SOLAR, STORAGE AND CHARGING SOLUTION

Client: The BP service station in Cohuna, Victoria, is a key local service station. With the rapid growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market, the station decided to upgrade its infrastructure to cater to EV users and enhance its eco-friendly image. In 2024, BP Service Station partnered with CES (Clean Energy Solutions) to install a new 30kW solar system, two sets of 125kWh Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and a 120kW EV DC fast-charging station. The aim was to attract more EV users and optimize energy usage

Challenge: BP Service Station initially faced the challenge of providing stable, high-power electricity for the fast-charging station. The 120kW EV DC fast charger requires a large amount of instantaneous power, but the local grid capacity was insufficient to directly support such high demand

Solution: CES solved this issue by installing a 250kWh Battery Energy Storage System. The BESS stores energy when grid loads are lighter, or solar generation is abundant, and supplies power to the charging station during peak demand. This solution allowed the service station to meet the power needs of the fast-charging station without upgrading the grid

Project Benefits

The goal of this upgrade was not only to meet the charging needs of EV users but also to reduce energy costs by increasing the use of clean energy while ensuring power stability during peak periods through the battery energy storage system. This comprehensive energy solution was designed to increase foot traffic and long-term profitability at the station

Carbon Emission Reduction: Approximately 35 tons of CO₂ reduced per year

Sustainable Brand: Became a model of green energy application in the local community, enhancing the station's brand image.

Customer
Review

“Since CES installed the solar, battery storage system, and EV fast charger for us, our customer numbers have increased significantly. EV users frequently visit our station, bringing additional revenue to our business. We've reduced electricity costs through solar energy, and even when the grid isn't available, we can still offer charging services to customers. This system is an excellent investment, helping us reduce costs and becoming the go-to station for local EV drivers.”
